Description

Vintage 2003: Characterised by dry warm to hot conditions in December and January with one main rain event on February 19th. This resulted in 30% crop reduction, producing a wine of unusual depth; a refined wine with intense plum and blackberry fruit with fine tannin structure supported by 100% French oak.

Colour: Medium purple, deep garnet.

Aroma: A rich and intense nose of plum fruit, perfumed violets with hints of spice and sweet pastry.

Palate: Rich and opulent sweet fruit with layers of chocolate, plum pudding and subtle but unmistakable Barossa spice. The ripe but not heavy fruit integrates seamlessly with the delicate and restrained use of French oak.

Description

Vintage 2003:
During the 2002 winter Coonawarra had below average rainfall, with most falling late, preserving good soil moisture levels for spring growing period. Temperature was consistent although above average for most of the growing season.

Colour: Bright brick red.

Aroma:
Quintessentially Coonawarra with classic aromas of crème de cassis, coffee spice box and dried leaf.

Palate: The palate is tight and elegant with strong varietal notes of cassis, olive and blackberry fruit. The powerful Coonawarra fruit remains tight and structured as it integrates perfectly with the subtle cedar oak.

Age of Vines: 9-35 yrs

Description

Vintage 2004:
The growing season was reasonably consistent with cool, dry conditions.  Cooler than average. Drip irrigation was used due to low rains in summer and autumn.

Colour: A bright straw yellow with green tints.

Aroma:
A youthful nose showing fresh citrus, fig and white nectarines. The aroma is tightly knit and restrained with subtle notes of creamy honey, lingering minerality and delicate use of oak.

Palate:
The palate shows a beautiful creamy texture with a full front palate and evenly weighted middle of white nectarine and fig to a seamless finish of crème anglais, crisp natural acidity and subtle finely grained French oak.

Harvest Date:
18th March 2004 Age of Vines: 15 years

Description

Vintage 2005:
Cooler than average summer temperatures with particularly cool nights resulted in an almost perfect vintage for Riesling in the Clare.

Aroma: Intense lime and floral talc before subtle notes of fennel and perfumed spice.

Palate:
The palate has an explosion of intense lime and fennel flavour yet with a fine and soft almost fleshy feel in the mouth. The finish has tremen-dous grip with the natural soft acidity carrying the perfumed spice and underlying minerality along the entire length.

28 th March 2005
Age of Vines: 29 years

Description

The 2002 vintage had milder than normal ripening conditions significantly adding to the style of wine we like to make. An absence of the heat spikes common from December to February allowed the fruit to develop supreme complexity and finesse. Harvesting from the valley floor, provided the weight and structure. The surrounding hills with their cool evening breezes allowed the fruit to delicately ripen, producing elegant sweet fruit, perfumed spice, hints of chocolate and mint, all complemented by 18 months in bot h French and American barriques.

Description

The 2002 vintage was favoured by an unusually long, mild growing season. Our 2002 Cabernet from 30-year-old vines shows an earthy and savoury bouquet before an elegantly weighted palate of rich blackberry fruit and soft but firmly structured tannins, comp-lemented by 24 months maturation in both French and American barriques

Description

The 2003 vintage experienced an unusually warm January. The growing season allowed for immaculate development of fruit structure and intensity, producing a wine with supreme elegance and finesse that can only be produced from cool climate fruit. Our 2003 Chardonnay, made with minimal intervention, displays a smooth mineral bouquet of rich nectarine, citrus and peach with mouth-watering acidity into a restrained palate of melon and fig with subtle and perfectly integrated French oak.
